Re:Vault is a self-hosted study browser. This page explains what happens to your data when you use this site.

What we store

• Settings are kept only in your browser's local storage on your device. They are never sent to us.
• Browsing you do in Re:Vault is sent to the destination site; we do not maintain server-side logs of the pages you visit beyond what is required to operate the connection.
• Sites you open in Re:Vault may set their own cookies and storage, which live in your browser. You can clear them anytime from Settings → Privacy & data.

Study Hall

Study Hall, the live study chat, stores what you write on our server so other people can read it. Here is what it keeps:

• Messages for 30 days, then they are deleted. The text of a message you delete is cleared after 7 days. A message that was reported or removed by a moderator is kept as evidence while it is reviewed and for up to 180 days after (365 days if the case is escalated).
• Reports, with a copy of the messages around the reported one, for up to 180 days after they are resolved (365 days if escalated).
• Your Study Hall name and recent name changes (90 days), your reactions, the people you blocked and where you stopped reading. These go after a year without using Study Hall.
• An age range (under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over), worked out from the month and year you enter once. Your birth date itself is never stored.
• Messages our filters stopped for safety reasons, such as harassment or sharing contact details, are kept for 14 days so moderators can spot patterns. Blocked phone numbers, emails and addresses are never kept.
• No IP addresses are stored for Study Hall, and the Study Hall page has no analytics and no ads.

Moderators can read everything posted in Study Hall, including edited and deleted messages. They see your Study Hall name and age range, never your email address. In rare, serious cases, such as a threat to someone's safety, the Re:Vault team may share the messages involved with the authorities.

Deleting your Study Hall data: in Study Hall, select your name, then "Delete my Study Hall data". This clears your messages, reactions, blocks and read history. Anything under review is removed when the review ends, and records of timeouts and bans are kept.

Honest limits: automatic filters catch a lot, but not everything, and now and then they stop a harmless message. That is why every message can be reported and why people, not just software, moderate Study Hall. Please report anything that makes you uncomfortable.

Advertising & cookies

Re:Vault shows ads from Google AdSense only on its own pages (the start page, settings, and folder pages) - never on the third-party content you open in Re:Vault.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

Analytics

Re:Vault uses Google Analytics (GA4) on its own pages to understand aggregate, anonymous usage - for example, how many people visit and which features get used - so the site can be improved. It runs only on Re:Vault's own pages, never on the third-party content you open in Re:Vault.

• Google Analytics sets its own cookies (such as _ga) in your browser to tell visits apart. We do not use this to identify you personally.
• You can opt out for all sites with Google's Analytics Opt-out add-on, or block it with most content/ad blockers.

Children & schools

Re:Vault is a general-purpose tool. If you are using a managed/school device, follow your institution's acceptable-use policy.
